We use a number of different propriety systems for our multi-room audio installations. On this web site we have chosen to feature the Linn Knekt system. Knekt provides a future proof system that can be pre-wired at an early stage with a tremendous amount of future flexibility and a choice of main system.

The system makes use of intelligent programmable wall panels that will tell you what radio station or CD track you are on, the volume level, and what input you have selected. They are operated either by pressing their buttons or by using a remote hand control. The main operating advantage over all other systems is the ability to "feed back" and visually acknowledge what is going on, as well as their unique ability to work and control equipment made by other manufacturers which may include video and satellite.

A distributed system of this type allows you to have access to a central system comprising high quality source components. This means that you buy just one top quality sounding CD, radio, tape etc. which can be listened to and controlled from any room. It gives you the ability to have "hidden" music as well as being able to listen to the same thing in a number of rooms at the same time.

There is also the facility to have "local" source inputs such as an MP3 player or the local TV set connected in any room. The heart of the Knekt system on our larger projects is the Intersekt switching unit, which allows you to listen to any source in any room independently, and contains a host of advanced software controls to simplify its use and functionality. It can be initially configured for 8 inputs and 8 rooms, but is easily expandable in future to up to 16 sources and 128 rooms.
